take your first step into fostering

Every year thousands of new foster parents are required to care for the increasing number of vulnerable children coming into care in the south west.

  • Our fostering agency needs foster carers from all walks of life who want to make a lasting difference to a child’s life.
  • With our help and support, you can give young people a safe, thriving environment to grow and develop in.

Why fostering matters

providing a stable future

Foster care is needed to give vulnerable children and young people a safe, caring home environment whilst they’re unable to live with their birth family. Becoming a Foster Carer with Nexus Fostering South West means that you will be able to provide these children with a home in which to grow and flourish into independent, well-rounded adults.

There are many different reasons for children needing foster care. Children may come into care temporarily due to a family problem or illness, or long-term due to experience of physical or emotional abuse, neglect and domestic violence. Whatever the reason, Nexus Fostering South West strives to provide a nurturing foster family and a safe place to call home.

frankie's fostering story

As a foster parent the biggest benefit and reward I have ever gained is in the positive difference I can and have made to the life of the child or young person. There is no way I can change their past, or make them forget, but what I can and always aim to do is help them gain special memories and lessons that they can take forward in their lives and to help carve out the person they will grow into and become in the future.

While fostering may initially be one of the biggest leaps of faith you could ever possibly make in your life, you’ll soon realise how privileged you are to be in a position where you can make lasting bonds with foster children that not only improve their life, but better your life as well.

Seeing a once timid, shy and unconfident foster child begin to blossom into a positive, hopeful, and self-assured young person gives you a feeling that cannot be compared to.
